Step 1 of 4
Thank you for being interested in helping to provide final military honors for our brothers and sisters however it appears that our situation may be harmful to you or your companion.
We would like to meet you at Ft Logan National Cemetery so that you can see what we do and meet some of the other volunteers. You will be contacted to provide a date for that meeting.
We will be investing some time and considerable expense for your training and uniforms. ln exchange we would like a one year minimum commitment from you.
Everyone is part of a "TEAM". Regardless of previous experiences, highest rank achieved, medals/awards received you are a member of a team and everyone is treated with the same dignity and respect. While interservice rivalry is alive and well, no disrespect will be tolerated.
There are 6 possible positions on each team. We generally start everyone on the rifle detail. The M1 weighs approximately 8 lbs. lf you believe you will have a problem handling/holding that much weight for a few minutes you need to bring this to our attention.
Once you have participated in a number of services you can ask to be trained for another position(s): Rifle Detail Commander; Color Guard; Chaplain, Bugler and Commander
The Team Leader will decide which volunteer will be assigned to each position at each service.
Each team issues uniforms based on their financial position and team policy. It is possible that a team requires a specific item but doesn't not issue that item. For example, it is customary for each member to wear black dress shoes. Only one team issues shoes. Members on the other teams will be required to purchase their own shoes.
Note: due to the cost of issuing a complete set of uniforms some teams are asking for a 50.00 donation toward the cost. Each team has the authority to waive that donation.
The following is a list of items that may be issued, select or fill in size:
Socks, Underwear, Longjohns, Boots, Belt
